As I was recently building my own routine back up, it reminded me of my clients over the years who have come to me apologizing because they just can’t seem to find the time, energy, or motivation for their skincare routine.
This is what encouraged this post.
I know skin. I know the power of skincare in depth—and I also know the effect stepping away from my routine, even for a day, can have on my skin. That being said, there have been multiple times in my life where even my skincare routine (which, admittedly, it takes a lot for me to step away from) has not been my priority.
And let me be the first to tell you—every time this has happened, especially during longer periods, I’ve had to start back from the basics. I’ve had to work my way back up with exfoliation, go through purging phases, and rebuild my skin to where I prefer it to be.
And you know what? It always gets there 😊
Of course, it can be disheartening and frustrating to go through a purge again or see your skin develop texture and pigment that you worked hard to keep at bay. But you know what’s even more disheartening? Feeling like when life has knocked you out of orbit, you still have to push yourself through a full skincare routine when you can’t even bring yourself to shower regularly.
We’ve all been there. And these are the moments to give yourself grace for being HUMAN.
And of course I would be remiss if I didn't say that consistency and intention are vital when it comes to your skincare routine for seeing and maintaining results, but again, life happens. And you can start that commitment again if needed.
Throughout my career, I’ve walked countless clients through grief, job loss, pregnancy, lifestyle shifts, health changes—you name it. As human beings, our lives can shift in an instant. To expect yourself to carry on “business as usual” 24/7, 365 is not realistic.
Skincare is important in so many ways. I’ve seen this intimately in my practice, and it’s why I remain so passionate about what I do after a decade. Healthy skin that you feel confident in will change your life. Full stop 🛑 I mean that with my whole chest. I've witnessed it countless times.
But you know what I mean even more?
If life has you down and you need to alter, downsize, or even fully step away from your skincare routine for a minute or more—your esthetician will be right there when you’re ready to come back. 🩵
And your skin is always ready to improve, no matter how far gone you think it is—trust me.
It’s never too late, and there are never too many restarts when it comes to skin health. 🧪
Take care of your mind, body, and soul first. ✌️🪴✨
